The Associate Director of Global Education in the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (OVPGA) provides leadership for academic programs across campus to incorporate global learning opportunities such as virtual exchange, Collaborative
Online International Learning (COIL), integration of the study of diplomacy, global experiences or global content in the on-campus curriculum at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Associate Director partners with and supports UNC-Chapel Hill faculty in the development of
globally-oriented and globally-partnered undergraduate and graduate courses or modules, often in collaboration with faculty at global partner universities. The Associate Director of Global Education brings active and inclusive learning methods to classrooms,
organizes faculty support programs and learning communities, and has an awareness of global and intercultural learning approaches and tools to advance high-impact experiential learning.
The Associate Director’s work is central to the University’s strategic priority to globalize, articulated in the
Carolina Next: Innovations for Public Good strategic plan. Specifically, the Associate Director advances progress toward objective 7.2 of Carolina Next, “Guarantee that a global education is available to all students
though a growing menu of global education opportunities on campus,” and “Diversify and strengthen global learning across the Carolina curriculum on campus and abroad, including through enhanced support to faculty for developing new, revised, globally partnered
and interdisciplinary global resources.”
The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs has primary responsibility for shaping and implementing the University’s global strategy.
