I am very pleased to share a position announcement for a Program Director in my office (the Office of International Science and Engineering, OISE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF). This position is for a rotator on an Intergovernmental Personnel Act assignment (e.g. from institution of higher ed, state/local/Indian tribal government). I am a rotator who moved from my SIO role at Oregon State University to NSF to become Head of OISE since February 2021. This is an especially exciting time to join NSF"s OISE as we seek to expand collaborations between US STEM researchers and foreign counterparts, and design our international programs accordingly. The OISE Program Director for Programs and Analysis will be responsible for performing the following major duties and responsibilities: Program Management Implements the proposal review and evaluation process for proposals submitted to OISE programs or cross-directorate initiatives. The programs include AccelNet, International Research Experiences for Students (IRES), and Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE). The IPA program director may be assigned to any one of these programs to work in coordination with another program director. The IPA program director’s responsibilities will include selecting individuals to provide objective reviews of proposals either as ad hoc experts or as members of a panel; building a healthy portfolio of awards based on reviewer advice, program objectives, and fund availability; and making recommendations for program improvement.
